Our program covers everything you need to kickstart your trumpet journey, from assembling the musical instrument and producing your first sound, to playing in a band. Additionally, we focus on introducing beginner improvisation (soloing) to help you express yourself through music. Our ultimate aim is to empower you to fully express your musical identity through the trumpet.
Program Overview
I have created this program to assist you in commencing your musical journey with the trumpet in an effective and enjoyable manner. This program is suitable for individuals who aspire to play the trumpet and have access to a functional instrument. It comprises over 2.5 hours of instructional videos and practice sessions.
Course Layout
The course is structured in a straightforward manner:
Each lesson is accompanied by a video that introduces a new concept or technique.
Additionally, there is a practice video featuring voice overs and graphics to facilitate real-time participation with the instructor on screen.
Curriculum
The program consists of twelve sets of lessons and practice videos aimed at teaching melody, rhythm, harmony, and improvisation. Furthermore, it includes a "Jam Room" providing the opportunity to play along with a virtual band at varying speeds. As a bonus, there are five animated videos simplifying music theory and explaining its fundamental components.
Outcome
Upon completion of this course, you will have the confidence to independently play the trumpet and participate in diverse musical scenarios with others.
Trumpet Lesson Program with Steve Dyte
Steve Dyte is the featured instructor in the Music Coach Online Trumpet Lesson Program. He is known for his exceptional skills as a trumpet player and educator, and is recognized as one of the leading trumpet players in Toronto.
Background and Experience
Originally from Orillia, Ontario, Steve moved to Toronto in 1999 to pursue jazz trumpet studies. He completed a four-year program at Humber College, obtaining a degree in jazz performance and gaining valuable experience in various musical settings, including cruise ship show bands, radio and TV performances, recordings, musicals, casino performances, and as a sideman for different gigs.
Professional Engagements
Steve has had the privilege of performing and touring with a diverse range of bands and artists, such as King Sunshine, Valery Gore, Emma-Lee, KC Roberts, Jully Black, Scott McCord, Down With Webster, Classic Albums Live, Stayin' Alive Bee Gee's Tribute, The Dirty Little Swing Thing, and many others. Additionally, he has shared the stage with renowned artists including Jim Cuddy, Glass Tiger, Cowboy Junkies, Steven Page, Keisha Chante, and Matt Dusk.
Musical Versatility
In addition to the trumpet, Steve is proficient in playing the drums and guitar. Since 2007, he has been a regular member of The Dirty Little Swing Thing, a popular band known for its wide repertoire covering hits from the 1960s to modern-day classics, spanning classic rock, swing, and soul. Steve's versatility, musical abilities, and strong work ethic have established him as one of the most sought-after young musicians in Toronto today.
