Clutter can appear physically in the items around us. Socially clutter can occur in overloaded calendars and commitments. Clutter also appears in mental strain with non-stop thoughts or monkey brain. Emotionally clutter can occur with overwhelming feelings and thoughts about the past, present, and future. Financial clutter is real and appears with overconsumption, shopping, debt, investments, and so on. And recent history, digital clutter is one of the fastest growing areas of concern with email, photography, and content.
Before bringing items home ask yourself: Can I afford this? Can I afford the money, the time, space, and the energy that this item will require?
Learn how to say no to items you don’t need. Don’t accept items from family members or friends unless they bring value into your life and you have space, time and energy to deal with them. You are working very hard to conquer the clutter in your life. Ask your loved ones to respect your decision and to support you.
