I teach three key systems to grow any business. They are lead generation, appointment setting, and lead conversion.
The purpose of generating a lead is to generate a lead. That's it! I call this stage selling. Stage selling means you sell the prospect to the next step. As soon as I acquire a lead, I add the lead to my database. By doing this, I can stay in touch with that lead via email marketing. I can email out to my database at zero cost, and I can continue to email that lead for life as zero cost.
Now there’s a caveat with the zero cost. My email software investment is about $300 per month and it allows me to send out about a half a million emails. You don't need a database that big. You could just have a database of a hundred people or 500, or a thousand. There are several different solutions out there to allow you the ability to send out emails.
My mentor, Jay Abraham, says to have at least 10 lead generation systems online and offline.
It's something that predictably produces leads.
My number one lead generation system is public speaking. I will go out and do conference calls, webinars, and front of the room talks. A lot of those talks I do them for free as a way to get new people into my database.
My second lead generation system is joint ventures. This means, I’ll find people that have my target market inside of their database and have them email their database promoting me such as giving a book for free. They’ll send out an email to their database offering my free book and then the person will opt into my database. I might pick up 50 – 80 new leads from an email blast and in some extreme cases I'll pick up over a hundred new leads in a single email. So joint ventures are another great way to generate leads.
A third way I generate leads is I offer something for free in exchange for their contact information.
Now this last idea is a bonus idea. It's kind of old school and most people don't like it, but it's cold prospecting. I have generated several million dollars in business doing call prospecting. So that's another great tip for you.
I want to encourage you to set lead generation goals. Goals act like magnets and they attract to you what those goals are. So if you had a goal to build your database to 5,000 records, which is 5,000 people, in time you would likely accomplish that goal because goals act like magnets. I want to encourage you to take at least one idea about lead generation and implement it today!
